How it works

From your link to money in your bank

Ten steps, in the order they actually happen. Two of them are done by a person at SchoolExl rather than by software, and both are called out below so you know where a wait can come from.

The journey

  1. You apply

Anyone can apply — name, email and agreeing to the terms is the whole requirement. Nothing is created for you yet: there is no login and no referral link at this stage.

  2. A person reviews and activates you

This step is manual. A SchoolExl administrator opens your application and decides. If you are approved, your partner login is created and we email the address you applied with, carrying a link to set your own PIN. If you are not approved, the system does not send an automatic email — so if a good while passes with no word, follow up with us rather than assume.

  3. You create a link

Inside the partner portal, under Promote → Links & QR, you can create as many links as you like. Each one takes a label and an optional UTM source, so a link for your WhatsApp broadcast is counted separately from the one in your video description. Every link comes with a QR code you can download as a PNG and print.

  4. Someone opens your link

We record the click against your account and store your partner code in their browser. That is what makes the next step yours rather than nobody’s.

  5. They sign up

Attribution is locked to your account at the moment they create their SchoolExl account — not at checkout. So a family that reads for a week and buys later is still yours, and so are their renewals.

  6. They pay for a plan

The commission is recorded immediately, at your tier rate, on the value of the order. It is recorded again on every renewal they pay for. It shows in your portal straight away with the status held.

  7. It matures after 90 days

A nightly job moves commissions that have cleared the 90-day hold into your wallet as available balance. The hold is there so a refund or cancellation lands before the money does; a refunded order has its commission reversed instead of matured.

  8. You get verified

Before any money can move you need a verified KYC record with your PAN, and a verified bank account. Both live under Account → KYC & Bank in the portal. Without a PAN we will not process a payout at all, because we are required to withhold 10% TDS and tax withheld against an unknown PAN can never be credited to you.

  9. You request a withdrawal

Any amount from ₹500 upwards, out of your available balance. 10% TDS is withheld at this point and the remainder is your net payout. The requested amount is reserved in your wallet as soon as you ask, so it cannot be double-spent.

  10. SchoolExl pays you by bank transfer

This step is manual too, and deliberately so. Two different SchoolExl administrators have to act: one approves the payout, another marks it paid, and the second cannot do it without entering the bank settlement reference (UTR) for the transfer. Your wallet shows the status at each stage and you get a notification when it is paid.

An honest expectation on timing: payouts are not automated and we do not publish a guaranteed turnaround, because it depends on a person being available to approve and transfer. What we can commit to is that the state is never hidden from you — every commission and every payout carries a visible status in your portal from the moment it is created.

Attribution

What “attributed to you” actually means

Last click, within 30 days. When someone opens your link we store your partner code in their browser with the time it was stored. If they create an account within 30 days, they are yours. Past that, the code has expired and the sign-up is attributed to nobody.

The most recent link wins. If they open your link and then another partner’s link before signing up, the later one is the one that counts. The reverse is equally true.

It is locked at sign-up, not at payment. Once an account is created against your code, that link is fixed. Their first purchase and their renewals all pay you, and a later click on someone else’s link does not take an existing customer away from you.

Where attribution can be lost. It lives in the visitor’s browser between the click and the sign-up. If they clear their browser data, switch to a different device or browser, or use a mode that blocks storage in between, we may never see your code — and then the sale is attributed to nobody, not to a competitor. This is why a link you hand over directly, or a QR someone scans and acts on in the same sitting, converts far better than one forwarded through several hands.

What we keep, and what it is for. Every click on your link is logged against your account with the time, the link it came from, any UTM tags you put on that link, an anonymous session id, and a one-way hash of the visitor’s IP address and browser string — never the address itself. That is what your per-link click and conversion counts are built from. We do not publish a deletion schedule for those records, because we do not currently run one; if that changes it will be stated here first.

Promoting

What you get to promote with

Your links

Unlimited, labelled, each with an optional UTM source. Every link carries your partner code and its own tracking code, and the portal counts clicks and conversions per link — so you can see which channel actually works instead of guessing.

A QR code per link

Downloadable as a PNG from the same screen. Made for the offline half of this business: a printed flyer at a coaching centre, a standee at a school event, a slide at the end of a workshop.

A shared asset library

Under Promote → Marketing Assets. It currently holds a brand logo pack (PNG and SVG), a 1080×566 promo banner, an email introduction template, and an Instagram caption. Copy the text, download the image, and put your own link in before you share it.

An invite link for other partners

Under Team. Anyone who applies through it is tied to you, and their sales earn you a 5% override on top of what they earn. One level only — their recruits are not yours.

The library is small today and it grows as we make things. If there is an asset you would actually use — a regional-language caption, a parent-facing one-pager — tell us; we would rather build the thing you asked for than guess.
